The Villages of San Luis Obispo and Sierra Vista Medical Center are partnering to honor and recognize Older Americans Month. To celebrate, the Villages will host a Senior Wellness Expo on Thursday. Festivities will continue from 1 to 4 p.m. at 55 Broad Street, in San Luis Obispo. Lots of free giveaways including stroke prevention/Risk Assessment by Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, blood pressure checks by French Hospital, cholesterol screenings by Central Coast Pathology, guest speakers, free refreshments and healthy snacks provided by the Villages and live music by The Mudskippers.
The Village's and Sierra Vista Medical Center will be presenting Jack and Elaine LaLanne the Wellness for Life Achievement Award. Elaine LaLanne will be in attendance to say a few words and a presentation on Jack’s lifetime work will start at 2 p.m. "This award is the perfect opportunity to recognize seniors in our community that have made a difference," says Jack Witter, CEO of The Villages of San Luis Obispo. "We are honored to present them with this award."
Various providers will be on hand to educate and assist with senior health care concerns. Hearing aid cleanings will be offered by Advance Hearing, senior fitness testing will be conducted by Board Certified Geriatric Physical Therapist, Hank Posner, and Car Fit evaluations provided by the Area Agency on Aging. French Hospital will be on hand to answer questions on heart health. Education will be provided by the Villages on Enhanced Retirement Living and Memory Care. Countless providers like the Arthritis Association, Long Term Care Ombudsmen, Hospice, HICAP, and the Alzheimer’s Association will be available to answer questions about their services.
The Villages is an enhanced senior living community offering a continuum of care, including retirement living, enhanced assisted living, and memory care, serving seniors on two campuses in San Luis Obispo.
