The Mission Community Services Corporation (MCSC) and its Women’s Business Center (WBC) will present a special branding seminar on Friday to help local business people navigate the world of rebranding. The seminar, called "Things I've Learned about Branding since Changing Our Name: YMCA to the Y," features presenter Jenifer Rhynes, a 30-plus-year veteran of the Y. Recently the Y rebranded, which encompasses more that just about a pretty logo. There is a whole platform that must be built so the logo can then represent the unpinning of thinking.
A great deal of research was conducted and the data spoke volumes as to how the Y must focus not only it's look but it's language to truly communicate the benefits of the organization and to establish expectations for the experiences members and participants would receive. Rhynes has served as the CEO reporting to the Y's board of directors since 1989. She holds a bachelor's degree from Cal Poly and a master's degree in organizational leadership from Springfield College. She has taught at Chapman University and UCI as well as Springfield College. Currently she chairs HEAL SLO (a coalition of agencies united to inspire Healthy Eating Active Living) and is a member of Rotary as well as a volunteer with SCORE. Join her and the MCSC on Friday, March 18 from noon to 1 p.m. at 71 Zaca Lane, Ste.130, in San Luis Obispo Calif. RSVP to
