The San Luis Obispo Symphony will continue its 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo with new music by an old friend. Spain’s renowned guitarist and composer José María Gallardo del Rey will return to San Luis Obispo with “Glosas,” a world premiere Double Concerto for Violin and Guitar. Commissioned by Maestro Michael Nowak to commemorate the Symphony’s landmark season, Glosas will feature the orchestra performing with Gallardo del Rey, along with violinist Anabel García del Castillo and percussionist Roberto Vozmediano.
Also on the program will be Rodrigo’s famous guitar concerto Concierto de Aranjuez and Ottorino Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances, No.3. A No Ties Allowed! FREE Dress Rehearsal is offered at 1 pm and the concert will be at 8 pm. This concert is sponsored by Joan G. Sargen and Roy & Jane Gersten. Tickets range in price from $17-$68 and may be purchased at the Performing Arts Center ticket office at (805) 756-2787 or online at slosymphony.com (there is an additional fee for online ticket sales.) Student rush tickets are offered at half-price in all sections after 7:30 pm at the door.
