The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art is now offering Drop-In Watercolor Classes on Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. this summer. From beginners to advanced, tackle the challenge of painting watercolors from a logical approach. Take the guesswork out learning this medium with an expert guide and in a supportive atmosphere. Begin with pre-drawn practice projects, to creating landscapes and still life. Learn why watercolor behaves the way it does. Teaching artist Chris Berdoll provides an environment that is efficient, rewarding and liberating, helping you to create and paint in a way you never thought possible. Chris Berdoll favors a traditional style of watercolor painting using a style that is representational. Like the American masters who influenced him, he captures the feeling of an element with the fewest strokes possible.
His career in ecological sciences has informed his interest and understanding of the science behind watercolor paints and how they work. As a teacher for nine years, he loves to give his students the opportunity to fully see what watercolor can do. The cost is $12 for Museum members and $15 for nonmembers. Supplies are provided.
