The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival (SLOIFF) is proud to collaborate with a number of Central Coast organizations to present three movie events in September, and two in October to be announced soon.
Two Short Film programs will be presented in North and South County. Popular and award-winning short films from this year's film festival will be screened first on Sept. 10, in the idyllic back garden of the Avila Bay Athletic Club & Spa. A wine reception hosted by Sculpterra Winery will begin at 7 p.m. followed by the movie program, introduced by SLOIFF Festival Director, Wendy Eidson.
Two filmmakers will be in attendance: Luke Matheny, Oscar-winning director and star of GOD OF LOVE, and Phillip Moses, Visual Effects Director for the SLOIFF award-winning, THE INTERVIEW. Other shorts, VOODOO, BYE BYE NOW and LIGHTS will round out the program. Each film run-time is 15 minutes or less.
Niner Wine Estates, outside Paso Robles, will host the same films in a Shorts Program on Sept. 24. Wine and snacks will be served on the scenic winery patio at 7 p.m. and the films will commence in the adjacent Demonstration Winery building at 8 p.m. Phillip Moses will be on hand for a Q&A after THE INTERVIEW. Both screenings are free to the public, with wine, snacks and/or desserts available for purchase. For more information
On Sept. 29, the SLOIFF, League of Women Voters and the City of SLO will partner to celebrate the centennial anniversary of California women getting the right to vote. The documentary ONE WOMAN, ONE VOTE will be screened at Kreuzberg CA Book Bar and Coffee Lounge at their new location on 685 Higuera St., downtown San Luis Obispo. The movie will begin at 7:30 p.m., and wine, beer, coffee and food will be available for purchase during the movie.
