The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden presents a tree identification workshop with Dr. Matt Ritter on Saturday, October 8 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Dr. Ritter will introduce you to cuttings and pictures of California's common trees and the features that define them. Have you always wondered what tree sits outside your house? Bring a cutting and he will help you identify it using keys and photos from his new book: A California's Guide to the Trees Among Us, written specifically to make tree identification easy for both professional and amateur alike. Presentation is $5 for members/$10 non-members, followed at 2 p.m. by a free docent-led tour of the Garden. A children’s fall planting event will be held concurrently at 1 p.m. in the Garden of Exploration; donations are accepted. And don't forget to come early to shop at our Fall Plant Sale up at our Propagation facility, Saturday, October 8!
