First Solar, the largest manufacturer of thin film solar modules, announced recently that it is hosting a series of upcoming community meetings as part of the company’s continued commitment to hear feedback and share news about the environmental, employment and tax benefits of the Topaz Solar Farm.
The meeting dates and times are as follows:
Tuesday, August 3, 7-9 pm Embassy Suites, 333 Madonna Road San Luis Obispo
Wednesday, August 4, 7-9 pm American Legion Hall 805 Main Street Templeton
Thursday, August 5, 7-9 pm Carrisa Plains Heritage Association Building 10750 Carrisa Highway Santa Margarita
Located in the northwestern corner of San Luis Obispo County’s Carrisa Plains, the 550-megawat photovoltaic (PV) Topaz Solar Farm will produce sufficient electricity to power tens of thousands of California homes.
The location was chosen after an extensive review of the available solar resource, proximity to existing electrical transmission lines, current land uses and environmental sensitivities of other potential sites in California.
