The Cuesta College Fashion Design and Merchandising department is hosting a student fashion showcase on May 11 for fashion design and merchandising students that have participated in the program since the fall 2009 semester.

The entries will include a variety of projects from the fashion design and merchandising industries, including story boards, garments, illustrations, class projects and designs.

The fashion showcase will be followed by en evening reception for participating students, friends, family and members of the community. Industry specialists will judge the entries and prizes will be awarded that evening.

Students from the Fashion Design and Merchandising department recently returned from the Student Career Forum at the San Francisco Design Center. A Cuesta student, Kathy Beaton, placed first in the rug design competition and was the first Cuesta College student to win an award at the event.

The Cuesta College Student Fashion Showcase of 2010 will be held on Tuesday, May 11 from 6-8 p.m. in the costume design classroom and courtyard at the Cultural and Performing Arts Center on the San Luis Obispo Campus.
