Discover the Animals Around Us at SLOBG PDF Print E-mail
Learn how animals stay warm in the winter at the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden’s Children’s Garden on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Take a look at all the animals and go on a short nature walk looking for and discussing different animals. The cost of the activity is a $5 donation per family for non-members.

With a goal of education through exploration, the garden is dedicated to teaching children of all ages about sustainability, the rules of ecology, where food comes from and a love of the outdoors. The children’s garden was built to work with nature to help conserve water and help plants grow properly. The entire garden is made of edible plants that can be used for medicinal teas, spices or a side dish for dinner.

With the purchase of an annual family membership to the garden for $50, families enjoy reduced cost for monthly Saturday at the Garden workshops, a 10 percent discount on summer camp, discounts on plants at local nurseries as well as supporting a wonderful learning environment and much more.
