Cuesta College will offer three notable concerts next week, as the spring 2010 performance schedule comes to a close. Two of the concerts are CD project concerts the will help the Cuesta College jazz department prepare to record a CD this summer of the department’s best work of the year.
- The Cuesta Night Band will showcase their contributions to the CD as well as several big band pieces on Monday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the CPAC.
- The Cuesta Jazz Ensembles will perform their best works for the year and offer audiences a sneak peek at what pieces will make it onto the CD on Friday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the CPAC.
The wind ensemble will also perform a noteworthy and unique piece on May 12 at 7:30 p.m. by composer Andrew Boysen called "Twilight of the Gods." The piece was commissioned by Cuesta College and 12 other ensembles belonging to the same consortium. It is based on Norse mythology and will include a graphic art slide show created specifically for the music.
