Hospice Partners of the Central Coast recently opened San Luis Obispo County’s first hospice inpatient care unit, and the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce helped commemorate the special occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Hospice Partners Inpatient Unit at Mission View Health Center is a collaborative effort between Hospice Partners of the Central Coast and Compass Health.
The completed Hospice Partners Inpatient Unit is 4,500 square-feet, has seven spacious suites, five private rooms and two semi-private rooms. In addition to comfortably appointed common areas, each patient suite has a sofa bed to accommodate family members who may choose to spend the night.
The Hospice Partners Inpatient Unit at Mission View is designed to proved comfort and dignity to dying patients while caring for their physical, emotional, spiritual and psychosocial needs. A registered nurse is on duty 24 hours every day. Medical social workers, certified nursing assistants, music therapists and spiritual care counselors are available throughout the day, as are volunteers. Future plans included additional impatient units in north and south San Luis Obispo County.
Hospice Partners of the Central Coast is a state licensed, Medicare and Medical certified hospice care provider and is sponsored by Wilshire Health and Community Services, Inc., a not for profit, tax exempt organization, and one of San Luis Obispo County’s largest providers of health care and community services for the elderly.
