The Union Bank of California Foundation has awarded $5,000 to the San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund. "Union Bank has been a generous and consistent supporter of the Housing Trust Fund," said Jerry Rioux, the Housing Trust Fund's executive director. "The Bank’s foundation has provided five grants to us totaling $45,000 since 2005." The bank's grant will help the Housing Trust Fund provide financing and technical assistance for affordable housing throughout San Luis Obispo County.
The Housing Trust Fund is a nonprofit corporation that was created in 2003 to increase the supply of affordable housing throughout San Luis Obispo County. Rather than directly develop or own housing, the Housing Trust Fund provides financing and technical assistance to help private developers, nonprofit agencies and local governments produce and preserve housing that working families, seniors on fixed incomes and persons with disabilities can afford to rent or buy. Since making its first loan in 2005, the Housing Trust Fund has provided $4.25 million in financing to help create or preserve 180 units of affordable housing in San Luis Obispo County. Approximately $1.3 million is currently available from the Housing Trust Fund for new loans for affordable housing projects. For additional information, visit www.slochtf.org.
