Solarponics, the longest continuously owned and operated solar company in California, installed Windward Vineyard's solar system helping them reach their goal of sustainability. The solar panels will power the vineyard operations including the tasting room and wine production. The winery joins EOS Estate Winery, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, Tolosa Winery and other local wineries that are going "green." While lowering their impact on the environment was the main impetus for Windward going solar, lowering their energy bill was also a major motivation.
"The savings in energy costs will more than offset the initial payments." said Windward Vineyards owner, Marc Goldberg, "Once we own everything, the savings should save us about 60 to 65% on our energy bill." Solarponics has installed solar panels on a number of smaller wineries in the area. Windward's system is comprised of solar panels that cover the roof of the tasting room.
Goldberg chose Solarponics to install the solar panels because, "they are the oldest supplier in the area and we wanted the best and the most trusted. Most of their clients were satisfied with their work," he said.
Solarponics is the Central Coast's alternative energy pioneer, helping residences achieve energy independence for 35 years. The longest continuously owned and operated solar company in California, Solarponics has been family owned and operated since 1975.
