Rabobank recently awarded $10,000 to the San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund, a nonprofit corporation that was created in 2003 to increase the supply of affordable housing throughout San Luis Obispo County. Rather than directly develop or own housing, the Housing Trust Fund provides financing and technical assistance to help private developers, nonprofit agencies and local governments produce and preserve housing that working families, seniors on fixed incomes and persons with disabilities can afford to rent or buy. "Rabobank is proud of its affiliation with the San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund," stated Steven L. Harding, Rabobank’s regional president. "Rabobank supports nonprofit organizations that make a sustainable difference in the community."
Since making its first loan in 2005, the Housing Trust Fund has provided $4.25 million in financing to help create or preserve 180 units of affordable housing in San Luis Obispo County. Approximately $1.3 million is currently available from the Housing Trust Fund for new loans for affordable housing projects. "Rabobank's generous and ongoing support is crucial to our ongoing success," states Jerry Rioux, executive director of the Housing Trust Fund. The bank's latest contribution will help the Housing Trust Fund provide financing and technical assistance for affordable housing throughout San Luis Obispo County.
"In addition to this grant," Harding noted, "Rabobank has provided the Housing Trust Fund with a 10-year commitment of $1 million in low-cost capital that they in turn lend for affordable housing projects."
