New Chamber member Playful Planet received national recognition this month when the Parents’ Choice Foundation honored the company with a Parents’ Choice Award for its “Storyland Yoga” DVD.

"Storyland Yoga" is a playful kid’s yoga DVD and download that engages children’s imaginations through storytelling. Children between the ages of 3 and 8 can learn yoga poses by imitating animals and gain interest in the planet by helping endangered species.

"The Parents' Choice Awards are so widely recognized that I believe winning this Award will help us connect with more families both locally and nationally," said Karen Duggan, Playful Planet Founder. Playful Planet aims to support families in raising healthy kids on a sustainable planet.

"As a parent myself, I know that when I see a Parents' Choice symbol on a product, I immediately have greater trust in the product and believe its content will provide some inherent value for my child's development or well-being,” Duggan added. “My hope is that this Award will at least entice people to watch the Storyland Yoga trailer on our website and learn more."

The review of the “Storyland Yoga” was very positive: “Filmed in beautiful outdoor locations, certified yoga instructor Ahmed Fahmy has a good rapport with the children. Even when some of the kids don't show perfect form, Fahmy continues the story (demonstrating the proper way) without correcting the individuals; it makes this more of a storytime and less of a yoga class.”

Just to be nominated for this award, people have to respond to the Parents’ Choice Awards Call for Entry on the organization’s Web site. Established in 1978, Parents’ Choice is the nation's oldest nonprofit guide to quality children's media and toys. The Foundation's mission is to provide parents with information to participate wisely in their children's learning outside the classroom.
