Paso Robles Wine Country gives more than $90,000 to community PDF Print E-mail

paso robles wine country allianceThe increased proceeds from the Wine Festival Wine Country Auction & Dinner in May has allowed the Paso Robles Wine Country to more than double its dedication to the community by gifting $68,000 this year to 13 North County area charities who support the industry's gifting platform.

Support of the local community is a way of life in Paso Robles Wine Country and the wine industry came together during the new Wine Festival Wine Country Auction & Dinner in May to strengthen its community support like never before.

The event hosted 269 wine enthusiasts at a seated dinner in the Paso Robles City Park to enjoy an evening of wine, food and community spirit. The auction, with the support of winery and hospitality partners who donated rare and unique auction items, was a resounding success.

The industry supports charities who serve health care, education and greater community service causes. These funds will be ceremoniously delivered to the charitable organizations this evening at the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance’s winter General Membership meeting held at Meridian Vineyards.

“The Paso Robles Wine community is thrilled to make the largest donation to date to a population which makes so much of what we do possible,” said Stacie Jacob, executive director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. "The Alliance has been able to contribute over $200,000 to local organizations over the last four years.”  

Monetary Donations to be Gifted on December 14, 2010. The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance was honored to gift more than $68,000 in proceeds to 13 of the following organizations:

  • American Red Cross, San Luis Obispo County Chapter - $10,000
  • Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County - $4,500
  • Community Action Partnership - $5,000
  • El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO) - $5,000
  • Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County - $2,000
  • Loaves and Fishes - $5,000
  • Mid-State Fair Junior Livestock Auction - $5,000
  • Partnership for the Children of San Luis Obispo County La Clinica de Tolosa - $10,000
  • Paso Robles Culinary Arts Academy - $2,000
  • Paso Robles Library Foundation in sponsorship of the Paso Robles Library Study Center - $5,000
  • Paso Robles Wine Alliance Scholarship Fund. California Wine Grape Growers Foundation - $2,000
  • Transitional Food and Shelter, Inc. - $5,000
  • Wellness Community – California Central Coast - $7,500

In addition, the Alliance supported 21 local groups through in-kind services with a value of more than $25,000:

The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance began its commitment to support the local community that supports the wine industry in 2006 with funds raised at the 14th Annual Zinfandel Festival. The Alliance continues its commitment by additionally facilitating a Wine Country Auction & Dinner during Wine Festival, furthering the Alliance’s dedication to giving dollars back to the community. 

The Wine Country Auction enriches Zinfandel Festival and Wine Festival by providing a charitable platform to exciting marquee events in wine country. Festival goers are encouraged to bid on wine and lifestyle items that are not available through commercial or retail outlets. Auction lots include signed large format library wines, wine country getaway packages and much more.

  • 19th Annual Zinfandel Festival: March 18 – 20, 2011 - Explore the history and mystery behind the dare devil Zinfandel during the Zin Tasting & Wine Country Auction on Saturday, March 19, 2011
