Residents at the Danish Care Center in Atascadero, owned by Compass Health, will have enhanced security in an already safe environment with the implementation of the Senior Crimestoppers Program funded by American Perspective Bank (APB). The bank’s investment loan of $1.3 million, through a portion of the interest earned, will provide $13,000 annually for seven years which will be funded through the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation, Inc. (SHCPF), an organization devoted to reducing crime in the nation’s senior housing facilities. Since its establishment in 1995, the SHCPF has cut crime such as abuse, neglect, fraud, theft and vandalism by more than 92.5 percent at sponsored senior housing facilities across the country.
“We are proud at APB to be supporting such an important program as part of our commitment to the community,” said APB President and CEO Mark Crawford. “Compass Health has been a great partner and it’s clear they have made it a priority to ensure the quality of life for their residents at the Danish Care Center.” By funding the Senior Crimestoppers Program, Danish Care Center residents will each receive lock boxes to help prevent theft and loss of personal property; establishment of a completely anonymous 24-hour hotline for reporting problems, cash rewards for information that helps the facility solve or prevent an incident, and on-going training of residents, staff, and management. “The Senior Crimestoppers program will allow another layer of security and/or a deterrent to all visitors, employees and residents who enter Danish Care Center,” said Linda Lindsey, administrator at Danish Care Center. “We thank American Perspective Bank whole-heartedly in selecting and sponsoring Danish Care Center for this program.” A Charter Presentation was held Friday, June 24 at the Danish Care Center, where American Perspective Bank representatives joined Vice President of Senior Housing Crime Prevention at Danish Care Center, George Clinard, who presented the Charter. The Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation Inc. is a national non-profit organization focusing on reducing all aspects of crime in the nation’s nursing homes and to provide ongoing, effective crime prevention programs that ensure a safe and secure environment for the residents of senior housing.
