For the second year in a row, Heritage Oaks Bank is officially the presenting sponsor of the San Luis Obispo Triathlon, taking place this Sunday.

"Our goal is to involve Heritage Oaks Bank and its staff in events that represent the spirit of our community,” says Mitch Massey, Senior Vice President / Marketing. Heritage Oaks Bank. “The SLO Triathlon represents this spirit and we could not be more excited to partner with the City of San Luis Obispo."

The triathlon is recognized as one of San Luis Obispo's marquee community events. It is also known as the "world’s largest pool triathlon" with more than 1,000 competitors each year.

"Heritage Oaks Bank’s involvement the past two years is a testament to community participation and support," says Rich Ogden, City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Supervisor. "We feel honored that the largest community on the Central Coast wants to continue their active involvement in celebrating our triathlon’s 31st event."

Heritage Oaks Bank strives to be a good corporate and community citizen. Twelve years ago, Heritage Oaks Bank embarked on bringing the community a fun-filled family event called the Heritage Oaks Bank Family Fun Day and Fun Run. Today, it is recognized as one of the state’s premier family running events and has given back over $300,000 to the local non-profit community.

"We like to make investments into the community that reach out and get the entire family involved. It goes a long way to helping make a personal connection," says Massey.

The bank’s sports theme of involvement does not stop with the Fun Run and the triathlon. In recent years, the bank has been a presenting sponsor of the Santa Maria Bull Canyon Run, the Straight Down Golf Tournament in addition to sponsoring their own racing team at the Santa Maria Speedway.

"We will continue our involvement with community ‘sport theme’ events especially when we know that we are able to touch so many lives in a positive direction," adds Massey.
