The Gay and Lesbian Alliance of the Central Coast (GALA) has received a $980 grant from the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation (SLOCCF).

The grant will be used to produce an educational exhibit to be displayed at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art as well as during San Luis Obispo’s 14th annual Pride Festival.  

The educational exhibit, Voices of Pride depicts how perseverance and dedication to equal rights can create a movement as large and powerful as the Prides demonstrated across the country. 

The exhibit will include a Global Map, which portrays civil rights injustice throughout the world. With the financial help and support from the grant, the educational exhibit will be displayed at the following venues:

• July 8, 2010 – Voices of Pride Reception - SLO Art Center located at 1010 Broad Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 5:30pm – 8:30pm.  Barefoot Bubbly and Amy Bakes Cupcakes will be served to guests during the reception.
• July  11, 2010 – Voices of Pride will be displayed at San Luis Obispo Mission Plaza so that Pride attendees will be able to view the exhibit 12:00pm – 5:30pm.  
• GALA was chosen to receive this grant from the Growing Together Fund, an endowment held at the SLO County Community Foundation to address the issues affecting the local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
