FunRide, a local car sharing service that features alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles, is celebrating its first anniversary of operations in San Luis Obispo this month.
FunRide is currently operating four cars, a van and a pick-up truck in downtown San Luis Obispo. The organization plans to expand the FunRide service to other communities in San Luis Obispo County in their second year of operation. FunRide offers their members green vehicles that can be rented by the hour. Members can reserve the vehicle of their choice online 24/7 or by phone during business hours Monday through Friday. And members receive a “fob” that allows entry to all the vehicles that are located throughout the community for convenient access for customers.
FunRide is used by businesses to replace fleet vehicles, commuters who need a vehicle during the day, visitors staying at local hotels, and individuals who are looking to reduce their transportation costs. FunRide features electric plug-in, natural gas, propane, hybrid, and flex fuel vehicles for their customers to lease on an hourly basis. Car sharing is available in 50 cities in the United States, where many residents do not have a car. With the recession challenging people’s budgets, FunRide provides vehicles to drive without the high cost of owning a vehicle. FunRide allows customers to try alternative fuel vehicles that reduce our use of gasoline. For more information, visit www.myfunride.com. |
