French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) is rated No. 1 in a recently published report by the California Hospital Association Reporting Task Force (CHART).
The report rates more than 240 hospitals for heart attack, heart failure, heart bypass surgery, pneumonia, and maternity, which are the five most common reasons for being admitted to a hospital. Hospitals are rated on quality and timeliness of care for several conditions, as well as patient experience with overall medical, surgical and maternity care, and adherence to recommended patient safety practices.
The report ranks FHMC superior for nearly all clinical measures including heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia care compared to other Central Coast hospitals. The results, which can be found at www.calhospitalcompare.org allows consumers to compare hospital data against the state averages and against other hospitals. “We support reports such as this one that measure quality and we encourage our community to use these public and independent rating sources to make more informed decisions regarding health care. These results illustrate French Hospital’s continued commitment to providing the highest level quality care to our community,” says Alan Iftiniuk, FHMC President and CEO. Data for this CHART study was collected between 2005 and June 2009.
