Construction to repair Downtown water and sewer mains will begin June 7, 2010 and is scheduled to be completed on August 26, 2010. A water main tie-in and a water main replacement will occur as part of this project. The water main tie-in will be at the intersection of Marsh and Archer Street. The existing water main on Archer Street currently dead ends and will be extended and connected to an existing line at the intersection of Marsh and Archer Streets. The estimated start date for this work is June 7 and is estimated to be completed within two weeks. Working hours for this phase are Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Nine fire laterals will also be installed throughout the Downtown area. Working hours for this phase will be Monday through Friday from 4 a.m. to 12 p.m.
A water main replacement will take place at Garden Street, between Marsh and Higuera Streets. The duration of this work is estimated to be four weeks, with an estimated start date of June 20, 2010. Working hours are restricted Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Two sewer mains, one on Osos Street (between Marsh and Pacific Streets), and the other on Garden Street (between Higuera and Marsh Streets), will be replaced. The sewer main work occurring on Osos Street will begin June 20 and is estimated to be completed July 9. Working hours are restricted Monday through Friday, 4 to 12 a.m. The sewer main work on Garden Street will take place simultaneously with the water main work in that street. This project will also repair a sink hole, which developed at the intersection of Marsh and Broad Streets. The existing surface of this intersection and other intersections on Marsh Street experiencing rutting and asphalt shoving, will be removed and replaced. This work will occur Monday through Friday, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. This phase is estimated to start date July 18 and completed July 26. Microsurfacing will be the final phase of this project. This phase will last three to four days and will be performed between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Microsurfacing will be applied on Higuera Street (between Nipomo and Marsh Streets), Marsh Street (between Higuera and Santa Rosa Streets), and Santa Rosa Street (between Marsh and Pacific Streets). Microsurfacing is a low-cost preventive maintenance treatment that retards deterioration of the pavement, maintains or improves the functional condition of roadways and extends the pavement’s service life. Please see attached map for specific locations of the project. D-KAL Engineering Inc. is the Project Contractor. All paving operations, including the microsurfacing and striping, are funded by Measure Y (your half-cent sales tax). Thank you. |
