The Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa has named their 2010-2011 Rotarian of the Year. Donna Lewis, principal of Central Coast Mortgage Consultants, is recognized as this year’s outstanding Rotarian.
Rotary de Tolosa 2010-2011 President Jeff Buckingham has selected Lewis for her “inspiring acts of ‘Service Above Self.’ ” Lewis helped the Rotary Club move forward after suffering the loss of SLO City Fire Chief and Rotarian John Callahan last year. “Donna stepped in as the community service chair with enthusiasm and the goal of honoring Callahan’s commitment to the club,” Buckingham said.
Buckingham commended Lewis for her capacity to plan and coordinate through the most trying times by organizing noteworthy community service events, including Rotary de Tolosa’s participation in the joint project by the three SLO Rotary Clubs to build an outdoor sheltered classroom at the Rancho El Chorro Outdoor School. Lewis was able to maintain the direction of the community service programs by carefully choosing her volunteers and encouraging the club to do great work. In addition to being named Rotarian of the Year, Lewis will receive the Paul Harris Recognition to honor her contributions to the club, a $1,000 donation made in her name to Rotary International. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace.
