County libraries help break world record PDF Print E-mail
Seven San Luis Obispo County libraries helped to break a world record on Oct. 6 by participating in Jumpstart’s national reading program, Read for the Record, in support of early childhood literacy.

Local children were among the 2,184,155 children worldwide who read the same book, “Llama, Llama, Red Pajama.” The author is Anna Dewdney.
More than 250 children, parents and teachers participated from the San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Morro Bay, Los Osos, Cauycos and Santa Margarita libraries.

Several local libraries devised creative ways to celebrate Read for the Record. In Atascadero, for example, live llamas visited the library courtesy of Art Kishiyama.
