Every two years, the City of San Luis Obispo's top budget priorities are identified through a robust public participation process. After hearing from the public at the Community Forum, via the Community Budget Bulletin Survey, and through its advisory bodies earlier this year, the city council identified the major city goals for the upcoming two-year financial planning period, beginning July 1.
Many business owners participated in the Jan. 11 Community Forum. Representatives of the business community emphasized a desire for the city to expand economic development efforts. With this input in mind, the council set economic development as one of the highest priority goals for the 2011-2013 Financial Plan. Now, the city is in the process of developing a work program for the Economic Development Major City Goal, and welcomes input from the citizens of San Luis Obispo. If you have ideas for ways the City can help companies grow and produce jobs, please participate in this survey.
