City of SLO to put Measure Y funds to use PDF Print E-mail

This summer, the city of San Luis Obispo Public Works Department is making improvements to City streets, parks and facilities, and storm drains – all made possible by Measure Y funding – your half-cent sales tax at work.

The following is a list of Measure Y projects, along with estimated construction schedules and costs:

Street Improvements
ADA Access Curb Ramps 2011
Construction to continue improving curb ramps for better accessibility throughout the City began in May and is scheduled to continue through November 2011, with an estimated construction cost of $179,000.

Street Reconstruction 2011
Construction to pave streets near the Downtown and surrounding area is scheduled to begin in August and will continue through October 2011, with an estimated construction cost of $1.245 million.

Microsurfacing 2011
Microsurfacing of city streets near the Downtown and surrounding area is scheduled to take place simultaneously with Street Reconstruction 2011, with an estimated construction cost of $1.064 million.

Foothill at Tassjara – Signal and Intersection Improvements
Upgrades to the intersection of Foothill Boulevard at Tassajara Drive signal are scheduled to begin in September and continue through November 2011, with an estimated construction cost of $100,000.

Curb Ramp City Paving Area 5 2011
Construction to continue improving curb ramps in the southwest portion of the City is scheduled to begin in September 2011 through December 2012, with an estimated cost of 299,000.

Parks and Facilities
Santa Rosa Restroom Replacement
Construction to replace the 50 year old Santa Rosa Park restroom is scheduled to begin in June and continue through November 2011, with an estimated cost of $293,000.

Meadow Park Roof Replacement
Construction to replace the roof on the Meadow Park’s recreation building is scheduled to begin in August and continue through October 2011, with an estimated cost of $51,000.

Strom Drain Improvements
Storm Drain Culvert Repair
Construction to repair the storm drain culvert under Higuera Street, between Bridge Street and Elks Lane, is scheduled to begin in June and continue through September 2011, with an estimated cost of $162,000.

Highland Storm Drain Repair and Replacement
Construction to repair and replace a storm drain on Highland Drive near Cuesta Drive is scheduled to begin in July and continue through September 2011, with an estimated construction cost of $355,000.

Andrews Creek Drainage Improvements
Construction to improve flood protection for the residents near Conejo Avenue and Cazadero Street is scheduled to begin in July and continue through October 2011, with an estimated construction cost of $312,000.

Higuera Storm Drain Replacement
Construction to replace a severely deteriorated Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) near Margarita Avenue on Higuera Street is scheduled to begin in September through October 2011, with an estimated cost of $98,000.
