Central Coast News makes million-dollar community investment PDF Print E-mail
Central Coast News has announced the Million Dollar Community Investment, a bold new initiative designed to help non-profit organizations that do so much for those on the Central Coast.

This ambitious outreach program will span San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Salinas, and Monterey television markets.
Cowles California Media’s network of television stations (KCOY/CBS 12, FOX 11, KION/CBS 46, KCBA/FOX 35, KMUV/ TELEMUNDO 23, and Central Coast CW,) is asking non-profits organizations to apply for a portion of the million dollars, which will be awarded in the form of media grants used for air time, Web, organization awareness, promotion, fundraising, specific events and initiatives, or even station sponsorships.  The media grants can be as small as a mention on Central Coast News’ Facebook page, on-air promotion of an event, or as large as a multi-station and multi-market campaign.

“We have been very active in our communities over the last several years, but there is still a great need by non-profits to further help their clients and constituents,” said Kevin Harlan, general manager of KCOY/CBS 12 and FOX 11.  “This initiative will further help shine a light on the great organizations that help people on the Central Coast.”

Central Coast News stations have assembled a team to meet monthly to evaluate proposals and make media grant determinations. Central Coast News will also make good on its promise by periodically reporting on the media grants allocated.

Non-profit organizations are encouraged to visit KCOY.com for details and application.  Watch for the first media grant designations on Central Coast News Stations beginning January 2012.
