Throughout the month of May, San Luis Obispo County community members host a variety of events to get people out of their cars and onto a bike. Each year Rideshare offers Mini-Grants to help foster these community driven events known as "Pods". To be eligible for a Bike Month Mini-Grant, the event must:
1. Promote active transportation
2. Support Bike Month goals and objectives
3. Be free and open to the public. Rideshare has allocated $4,000 in mini-grant funds. Pods may apply for grants ranging from $50-$500.
Mini grants can be used in a variety of ways! For example, you could:
• Host a bike-in day at your school or organization
• Offer tune-ups and/or free lunch to your employees who arrive by bike
• Host a ride to the beach, touring wineries or local art galleries
• Rent a space (city park, gallery, etc.) to hold an event
• Provide incentives (food, beverages, stickers) to participate in your event
• Or other exciting cycling related events that you dream up! Applications are available online at www.rideshare.org/BikeMonth2012.
