Bank of America awards $7,500 to Housing Trust Fund PDF Print E-mail

The Bank of America Foundation has awarded a $7,500 grant to the San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund.

"Bank of America has a commitment to all of the communities that we serve throughout the nation," explains Greg Bland, the BofA Market President for California's Central Coast. “We support local community partners, such as the Housing Trust Fund, because we can create far more housing opportunities for low and moderate income households by working together.”

“Bank of America has been a generous and consistent supporter,” adds Jerry Rioux, the Housing Trust Fund’s executive director. “Over the years, the bank has contributed nearly $80,000 to help us increase the supply of affordable housing in San Luis Obispo County."

The San Luis Obispo County Housing Trust Fund is a nonprofit corporation that was formed in 2003. Rather than develop, own or manage affordable housing, the Housing Trust Fund provides financing and technical assistance to help private developers, nonprofit agencies and local governments create, preserve and improve homes that working families, seniors on fixed incomes and persons with disabilities can afford to rent or buy.

Since 2005, the Housing Trust Fund has provided more than $6 million in short term financing to assist 214 affordable rental and for-sale homes in San Luis Obispo County. During 2010, nearly 30 percent of the housing starts in the entire county were assisted by the Housing Trust Fund. More than $2.0 million is currently available to finance additional affordable housing projects.
