Cuesta College will graduate 691 students at the 45th commencement ceremony on Friday. The Cuesta College 2010 graduating class, which includes students that have completed degree requirements in the fall 2009, spring 2010 and summer 2010 semesters, earned a total 801 degrees. Students from four international countries, including Belgium, Honduras, Japan and the United Kingdom, and seven states, including Arizona, Idaho, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon and Texas are among the graduates. The graduates range in age from 16 to 65, and include three sets of siblings, one husband and wife pair, and two sets of mothers and daughters. Of the graduates, 115 students earned honors or high honors by achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, including six who earned a perfect 4.0.
The 45th general commencement ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. on May 21 at the Cuesta College Gymnasium on the San Luis Obispo campus, with the graduate lineup beginning at 4 p.m. Graduates of the registered nursing program will be honored at a celebration ceremony from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on May 21 in the gym. Graduates of the vocational nursing program will also be recognized at a celebration ceremony on Saturday, May 22 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cuesta College. The general commencement ceremony will be broadcast live on Charter Cable Channel 19. It will be re-broadcast on Channel 21 or available online on demand at www.slo-span.org. Following commencement, DVDs of the general and registered nursing commencement ceremonies will be available to order in the bookstore or online at http://bookstore.cuesta.org/ for $10 each plus shipping and handling.
