Oct. 19, 2009 --- The Commemorative Sassoferrato Holiday Stamp will be available for purchase from the United States Postal Service in the Hearst Castle Visitor Center.
The stamp, at right, depicts the painting of Madonna and Sleeping Child by Giovanni Batista Salvi (commonly known as Sassoferrato). The 17th-century painting is part of the California State Parks collection on display at Hearst Castle. Sales will include sheets of the Commemorative Sassoferrato Holiday Stamp, First Day of Issue cachet envelopes, official ceremony programs and more. In addition, the First Day of Issue cancellation will also be available. |

Oct. 19, 2009 --- The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County recently received a surprise legacy gift from a generous and long-term supporter; Arthur Rosen left $5,000 to his local land trust through his will.
Rosen chose to dedicate a portion of his estate to the conservation of important landscapes unique to San Luis Obispo County. A staunch supporter of local land protection, Rosen was a member of The Land Conservancy since 2000 and donated regularly to the Visionary Vistas Land Protection Fund. "The generosity and foresight of our supporters never ceases to amaze us," said Brian Stark, Executive Director of The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County. "Arthur Rosen's gift will be appreciated for generations to come through the permanent protection of local lands in his home community." |

The "Circle of Serving" award is given each year to outstanding community members from both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties who demonstrate exceptional dedication to enhancing the wellbeing of children and families in the our community. Glines was chosen as an honoree due to his unwavering commitment to bettering his community. He was recognized with the award at the organization’s 6th annual Taste of the Central Coast at the Cypress Ridge Pavilion in Arroyo Grande on September 20th. |
