Mission Community Bank welcomes new CEO PDF Print E-mail

Mission Community Bancorp (OTCBB: MISS) (the “Company”), parent company of Mission Community Bank (the “Bank”), announced that effective today, Tom L. Dobyns has been appointed the bank’s chief executive officer. Dobyns also will join the company’s board of directors.

Ceremony touts benefits of Solar project PDF Print E-mail
With hundreds of rows of installed piers as a backdrop, SunPower and its partners, NRG Energy and Bechtel Power Corp., were joined by almost 200, including county and elected officials, community partners and California Valley Solar Ranch employees, to celebrate the ceremonial groundbreaking of the 250-megawatt California Valley Solar Ranch project.

Transitions mental health gets grant PDF Print E-mail

Transitions-Mental Health Association has received a $5,000 grant from the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation. This grant will be used to introduce and establish Mental Health First Aid Training in San Luis Obispo County.

The training is a groundbreaking education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.  It is an effective, proven model for Identification and First Response, and like CPR or basic First Aid, it is a critical skill worth disseminating throughout the county of San Luis Obispo.

SLO Farmers’ Market featured in LA Auto Show PDF Print E-mail
It may seem like an odd match – Saturday morning Farmers’ Market farmers and the International LA Auto Show.  But designers from Ford Motor Co. have picked the popular Saturday Farmers’ Market as an “authentic” destination to help promote the 2013 Ford Escape. 

Ford will present its new Escape at the Los Angeles Auto Show, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from Nov. 18 to Nov. 27, 2011.  As many as 900,000 visitors from around the world are expected to attend.

KCOY turkey drive a big success PDF Print E-mail

The seventh annual KCOY Holiday Turkey Drive was a huge success again this year.  On Nov. 18, Central Coast residents dropped off donations all day in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.  It was televised on KCOY CBS 12 and FOX 11. Good Samaritan is distributing donations in Santa Barbara County. The Food Bank of San Luis Obispo County is distributing donations in San Luis Obispo County. The food and money donated in each county stays in their respective counties.

More than 2,000 turkeys, 6 chickens, 1 ham, more than $15,000 in cash donations, and 6,000 pounds of food were raised.

Founded in 1986 by Charles and Patricia Lindamood and Nanci Bell, Lindamood-Bell is dedicated to enhancing human learning.  Our founders are the authors of research-validated instructional programs that teach children and adults to read, spell, comprehend, think critically, and express language.

Today, Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes operates 47 Learning Centers across America, one in London, and one in Sydney. Over 100,000 students of all ages have received Lindamood-Bell® instruction in their Learning Centers and school projects. Ryan Curtis, Doris Rager, Diane Harisson, Hans Langfeldt, Brandon Banner, Michael Passarelli, Anne Whitehead, Phil Koziel, Terri Kurczewski, Shawn Murphy, Brian Donnelly, Catherine Trujillo, Michelle Welshons-Hertz, Al Rodriguez Chamber member, San Luis Obispo Child Development Center, celebrated 40 years of therapeutic child development and parent support in San Luis Obispo County with a special ribbon cutting on November 10.

Since 1971, SLOCDC has been dedicated to breaking the cycle of child abuse in our community by providing a network of prevention, intervention, and treatment services to protect children and heal, support, and strengthen families. The services at SLOCDC range from child development and after-school programs to child and family therapy and case management services. Long called “San Luis Obispo County’s best kept secret,” SLOCDC has broadened our scope of services to children of various ages and geographic locations to better accommodate the increasing need for therapeutic and family service interventions in San Luis Obispo.

Located in Los Osos, the goal of Five Seasons Pilates is to help make the world a better place, one client at a time.  They want to be your guide to the Pilates Method, which will help you develop core strength for better posture and balance, improved body awareness, and efficiency of movement.
