PG&E joins opposition to Prop 23 PDF Print E-mail

pge Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) recently joined other California business, civic, labor and environmental organizations in opposing Proposition 23, a new state ballot initiative that would suspend California’s landmark Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, also known as Assembly Bill (AB) 32.

The measure will appear on the November ballot for voters to decide.

AB 32 requires California to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. Since actively supporting the passage of AB 32, PG&E has worked with the California Air Resources Board, California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission and other stakeholders to make AB 32 a success and a model for other jurisdictions to follow.

Solarponics helps local vineyard join grapevine to go solar PDF Print E-mail

solar panels Solarponics, the longest continuously owned and operated solar company in California, installed Windward Vineyard's solar system helping them reach their goal of sustainability.

The solar panels will power the vineyard operations including the tasting room and wine production.

The winery joins EOS Estate Winery, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, Tolosa Winery and other local wineries that are going "green."

While lowering their impact on the environment was the main impetus for Windward going solar, lowering their energy bill was also a major motivation.

Heritage Oaks Bank donates to two local non-profits PDF Print E-mail

Heritage Oaks Bank donated $500 to both the Women’s Fund of Northern Santa Barbara County and the Afternoon Rotary Club of Santa Maria.

The Women's Fund honors the vital role that women play in our community and is dedicated to increasing the opportunities for women to participate as philanthropists.

Rotary is an organization of business, professional and community leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill in the community.

“On behalf of the fund, please accept my sincere thanks for your gift,” says Judy Markline, Chair of Women’s Fund Oversight Committee. “Your contribution demonstrates your strong support for the fund and its mission to serve as a catalyst for change on behalf of the women, children and families of Northern Santa Barbara County,” adds Markline.

Fleet Management Solutions, Inc. (FMS), a local mobile asset management and GPS vehicle tracking company, recently completed the integration of the Department of Homeland Security Office of Detention and Removal (DRO) Vehicle Management Information Systems (VMIS) and FlyteComm Frontsight™.

Implementation of the FMS equipment and web services integration with enterprise applications is delivering the operational readiness, mission effectiveness and cost reductions anticipated when the project began one year ago.
