Cuesta College is opening an Energy Auditing Tool Lending Library and a SLO Home Performance Training Program for local residents and contractors. Cuesta’s energy tool library was funded by the County of San Luis Obispo from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. The purpose of the tool library is to provide affordable, quality energy tools to contractors and energy professionals to audit and retrofit local homes. The tools can be rented for free until Aug. 31, 2011. After that time, a nominal fee will be charged to offset the ongoing cost of properly maintaining the tools. They are available to rent by professionals that hold a BPI, HERS, RESNET or an equivalent certification, although some tools will be available to homeowners in the future. |
