The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce is hosting two candidates’ forums in the coming months to give members a chance to better understand where our potential elected leaders stand on key business and community issues.
Attendees will hear first-hand from the candidates in a forum devoted primarily to audience questions. The Mayoral Candidates’ Forum will be co-hosted with Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo on Sept. 8 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Mayoral candidates include former Councilman Paul Brown, nonprofit volunteer Andrew Farrell, artisan Donald Hedrick and Councilwoman Jan Howell Marx.
The City Council Candidates’ Forum will be held at the San Luis Obispo City/ County Library Community Room, 995 Palm St. on Oct. 14 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
San Luis Obispo City Council candidates include Cultural Heritage Committee Chairman Dan Carpenter, City Council member Andrew Carter, former Planning Commissioner Andrea Miller, community member Terry Mohan, retired barber Arnold Ruiz, and former Councilwoman Kathy Smith.
The cost to attend either event is $20 for SLO Chamber members and $30 for nonmembers. Absolutely no walk-ins will be permitted.
