The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce’s Membership Accounts Manager Lori Silva, along with seven individuals from other businesses, was named an Employee of the Year and awarded a 2010 Suggs Award from the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo for her outstanding level of professionalism this year. "Lori is a valuable 'behind-the-scenes' employee who rarely receives the recognition she so richly deserves for all of the hard work she does to keep the Chamber running smoothly," said Dave Garth, the Chamber’s president and CEO.
The rotary club's annual Gary Suggs Outstanding Employee Award was established in honor of the award program’s founder and former San Luis Obispo Rotary Club President, Gary Suggs, to recognize Rotarians’ superior employees. This is a very special way to thank employees for their great work and give that person the opportunity to learn about your involvement in rotary. Silva is the face that greets you at many of the Chamber’s events, and she’s the voice on the other end of the phone who answers questions about your membership. As the Chamber's membership accounts manager, she organizes the registration for most of the Chamber's monthly events, such as Good Morning SLO and the Legislative Lunches, as well as coordinating the annual UCSB Economic Forecast Project. She also manages and updates the enormous membership database, creating new member profiles, keeping information current for the Chamber’s Membership Directory, Visitors Guide and online listings. A San Luis Obispo native, Silva enjoys the outdoors with the area’s great weather and beautiful scenery. Family is something that she highly values and she also loves spending time with her husband and two children.
