The heart of the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce’s business advocacy and public policy review is the committee system, where more than 100 members share their expertise and knowledge to help the Chamber make good decisions.
Now is your opportunity to join a committee of your choice. All committees re-form every January, so even current committee members must reapply. Any Chamber member can apply to join a committee.
“Our committees make a tremendous difference in the business community as well as the community as a whole, but it’s very important to get a wide variety of applicants to ensure the vitality and diversity of each committee and to make sure we have a proportional representation of our membership,” said Chamber President/CEO Dave Garth.
The following committees are currently accepting applications:
Legislative Affairs Division - Issues Evaluation Committee. Analyzes and evaluates near-term city/regional issues; recommends public policy to the Board.
- Legislative Council. A member forum to learn about and discuss “hot topics.”
Community Affairs Division - Diversity Council. Promotes and increases member awareness of the business benefits of diversity.
- Technology Advocacy Committee (TAC). Explores the opportunities of new technology for small business; builds a collaboration of local technology companies.
Economic Development Division - Economic Development Committee. Works to enhance the long-term economic vitality of the city and region; recommends public policy to the Board.
- Tourism Council. Exchanges information within the tourism industry.
- Sustainability & Resources Committee. Helps members see the benefits of sustainable business practices; recommends public policy to the Board.
Membership/Operations Division - Ambassadors’ Committee. Volunteers committed to keeping the Chamber connected to member needs. (Five to 10 hours of participation per month).
Deadline to apply is Friday, Dec. 10. Click here to apply online now.
