new san luis obispo chamber boardEight newly elected members of the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, plus one appointed member, joined the chamber’s Board of Directors along with incoming Chairperson Michael Gunther this month.

The Board of Directors serves as the Chamber’s policy-making body and its 21 members represent the diverse business and professional leadership of the community.

As the oldest voluntary organization on the Central Coast, the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce boasts a membership of about 1,500 area businesses and organizations and a staff of 15. The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization that is an independent business advocacy organization that is not affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce or any other Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber members voted for the board in the nonprofit’s recent online election.

Newly elected board members joining the board include

  • RRM Design Group CEO Erik Justesen
  • Clever Ducks COO Amy Kardel
  • Rademaker Design owner Pierre Rademaker
  • Mission Community Bank CEO Anita Robinson
  • local attorney John Spatafore
  • Thoma Electric, Inc. President Bill Thoma
  • Longcrier & Associates CPAs Manager Hillary Trout
  • Digital West Networks Inc. President Tim Williams.
The newly elected members will join those continuing on the Board of Directors:
  • Collaboration President Michael Gunther
  • TekTegrity CEO Russ Levanway
  • Cal Poly's Dean of Research and Graduate Programs Susan Opava
  • Madonna Enterprises Real Estate Manager Clint Pearce
  • The Tribune President and Publisher Bruce Ray
  • iiiDesign Creative Director and Principle Missy Reitner-Cameron
  • United Way of SLO County’s COO Charlene Rosales
  • Mindbody CEO and founder Rick Stollmeyer
  • Talley Vineyards and Talley Farms President Brian Talley
  • Promega Biosciences President Kristen Yetter
  • Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center Associate Director Ron Yukelson
The Chair of the Board also has the opportunity to appoint one member to the board. This year’s board appointee is Matthew Woods, vice president and general manager of AEE Solar, the sister company of REC Solar.

Eight officers have also been elected to the Chamber’s Executive Committee, which exercises the powers of the board between those times when board meetings are held.

The 2011 Executive Committee includes

  • Vice Chair, Membership/Operations - United Way of SLO County’s COO Charlene Rosales

  • Vice Chair, Legislative Affairs - Digital West Networks Inc. President Tim Williams
  • Treasurer – Promega Biosciences President Kristen Yetter
  • Board Counsel liaison - Madonna Enterprises Real Estate Manager Clint Pearce
  • Past Chair - Pacific Energy Company President and owner John Ewan
