Chamber forum sheds light on County Events Ordinance controversy PDF Print E-mail
More than 125 people attended the Chamber’s forum on the proposed changes to the county’s Events Ordinance. A controversy has been growing because some of the proposed changes would make it nearly impossible to have weddings and other special events on local farm and ranch property.

Local agriculturists and wedding professionals are united in their opposition to the ordinance that’s being developed by the County Planning Commission. Discouraging these events would have a direct negative impact on San Luis Obispo since many people attending weddings are from out of town, stay overnight in motels and eat meals in restaurants. Many of the affected businesses such as photographers, entertainers, caterers and florists are also located in San Luis Obispo. The Planning Commission will have a public hearing on the issue Thursday at 9:00 at the County Government Center.
