Chamber staff joins Sunset Magazine, VCB and other major sponsors for Victory Garden Groundbreaking Ceremony

A Groundbreaking Ceremony kicked off major upscale food and wine event Sunset’s Savor the Central Coast last week.

Sunset Magazine has partnered with the San Luis Obispo County Visitors & Conference Bureau on the creation of Sunset’s Savor the Central Coast, scheduled for Sept. 30 through Oct. 3, 2010.

On February 26, the groundbreaking was situated at the Santa Margarita Ranch, located 10 miles north of San Luis Obispo, and the same location where the main event will be held in September. Sunset Magazine’s Editor-In-Chief, Katie Tamony, along with forty major sponsors, planted their shovels in the ground to celebrate the creation of a two-acre Victory Garden, which will include the planting of fresh fruits and vegetables.

When fruitful, the produce will be a part of the event as seasoned chefs will create delectable food sensations and pair them with Central Coast wines.

The four-day extravaganza will target food and wine aficionados throughout the state of California. The event will feature 150 Central Coast wineries paired with 35 chefs, a 20,000 square foot tourism pavilion and Sunset’s Victory Garden. The main event on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3, will showcase wineries from each Central Coast county, including Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara and Ventura.

Tickets will go on sale on May 1, 2010. A variety of ticket options are available, ranging in price from $75-$175.

General admission for the weekend event is $85 per day.
