During his career, he has worked commercially for many Fortune 500 Companies including IBM and Coca-Cola. His work has also appeared on the pages of Vogue, Time and Newsweek. Having an insatiable desire to explore and expand his artistic horizons, Kohanim still remains true to his approach to simplicity and to the visual dialogue that is intuitive and innate.

Group drawing exhibit at Cal Poly PDF Print E-mail
“Drawn In,” the season’s opening exhibit at the University Art Gallery at Cal Poly, will feature a diverse collection of works by seven artists. The show will run from Friday, Sept. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 29.

A panel discussion about art and drawing is set for Friday, Sept. 30 from 5 to 6 p.m. in Room 227 in the Dexter Building (Building 34). An opening reception at the University Art Gallery will immediately follow the lecture.

In the last decade, drawing has moved well beyond the preparatory sketch, according to Jeff Van Kleeck, gallery coordinator for the Department of Art and Design. “Contemporary drawing encompasses not only pencil-on-paper but also mixed media, conceptual drawings and installations. ‘Drawn In’ will feature a variety of styles in contemporary drawing – not as part of the creative process to inform other work – but as the final expression.”

The exhibition presents works by Joe Biel, Benjamin Britton, Alison Byrnes, Sarah Lowing, Ephraim Puusemp, Natalie Settles and Jay Stuckey.

The University Art Gallery is in the Dexter Building, Room 171. The exhibit is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.artgallery.calpoly.edu.

Arsenic & Old Lace coming to Clark Center PDF Print E-mail

Sorcerer Productions, the company that brought sold-out runs of both Forever Plaid, The Producers and The Drowsy Chaperone last year to the Clark Center is back with the hilarious dark comedy, Arsenic and Old Lace.

When Mortimer Brewster returns to the family home, we meet his charming and innocent spinster aunts, who have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with a glass of home-made elderberry wine laced with arsenic, strychnine, and "just a pinch" of cyanide! Add in a brother who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and digs locks for the Panama Canal in the cellar of their home; another brother who has received plastic surgery to conceal his identity and now looks like horror-film actor Boris Karlof;  you then have a recipe for a delightfully macabre evening of entertainment!
