The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce will officially present its new Economic Vision to the San Luis Obispo City Council on Tuesday. Chamber Chair of the Board John Ewan, President Dave Garth and Governmental Affairs Director Ermina Karim will discuss the vision’s objectives, values and strategies, explain how the vision document is used internally and externally, and share their perspective on the importance of community visioning. “The city helped the Chamber shape this new vision, and it’s important to explain how its strategies will help protect San Luis Obispo’s quality of life and promote its economic well-being,” Garth said.
The Chamber released the vision document in January, but it took nearly two years to produce. By looking to a time when business is again expanding, the document articulates strategies for the Chamber and community to ensure San Luis Obispo is poised to take advantage of coming economic opportunities. The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce is the oldest and largest voluntary organization in San Luis Obispo County and uniquely serves the needs of its 1,400 members. For more than 105 years, it has been dedicated to its primary goal: the economic health of the San Luis Obispo area and the prosperity of its members. In its third major revision since 1992, the Chamber’s vision of San Luis Obispo’s economic future features long-term objectives, core values and economic principles, and a six-point economic strategy for the future. “We’re building on what we continue to see as a key focus,” Garth said. “The Chamber works on creating long-term visions, and we stick with them, revise them or refine them.” Any and all supporters are welcome to attend the City Council meeting at City Hall, 990 Palm St in San Luis Obispo.
