The Federal Economic Development Administration has just notified Cal Poly that it has been awarded $300,000 to finish the business incubator portion of the new Tech Park, which is scheduled to have its grand opening next month.
The incubator will provide flexible space and incubator services to support small start-up high tech companies. It’s expected the grant will directly create 50 new jobs in the community. “This key asset for the region will help speed our transition from an economy that is heavily reliant on government, agriculture and tourism to a more entrepreneurial, innovation-driven economy,” said Cal Poly Dean of Research and Graduate Programs Susan Opava. This transition is a fundamental part of the Chamber’s Economic Vision.
