CHAMBER OFFERS HELP TO MEMBERS PREPARING FOR THE YEAR 2000 -- The Chamber is extending a helping hand to those small businesses who haven't begun preparation for the impending Year 2000 (Y2K) problem and don't know where to begin. Thanks to the generosity of FirstBank of San Luis Obispo, the Chamber is offering a video to help members assess their potential Y2K problem. The 13-minute video tells business owners and managers what they should look for in their place of business to make a smooth transition into the new millennium -- without any technological glitches. The videos are available, for loan, at the Chamber's Visitors Center.
NEW LOOK FOR NEW MEMBERS SERVES AS HANDY REFERENCE TOOL-- You'd like to contact the dog groomer who joined the Chamber a few months ago, but can't find the issue of San Luis Obispo Business that he was listed in. Sound familiar? In an effort to solve that problem, new members will now be listed on an 8½" x 11" sheet of paper that you can handily insert into your Membership Directory on a monthly basis. New members will be listed categorically, following the format of the Directory, and will be mailed with San Luis Obispo Business each month. Online users can download the file using Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01.
REVISED POSITION PAPER ON SLO'S WATER SITUATION NOW AVAILABLE -- An updated version of Water: Ensuring the Future, the Chamber's position paper on the availability of water resources in San Luis Obispo, is now available in limited quantities. The update, which took the Water Task Force two years to complete was recently approved by the Chamber's Board of Directors. The document focuses on what the Chamber believes to be the three best options for securing additional water for residents: Water Reuse, Salinas Dam Expansion, and Nacimiento Project -- and outlines the costs and supply potential for each. If you're interested in receiving a free copy, stop by the Chamber's Visitors Center. |
