Two sales pros join staff The Chamber has strengthened its staff by hiring two new sales professionals, who also happen to be Cal Poly alumni. Melissa Mac Intosh has joined the Chamber as its new director of member services and Penny Lentz has come aboard as special projects director. "Both Melissa and Penny have extensive sales experience and a great ‘team' approach," said Chamber President/CEO Dave Garth. "We're lucky to have them as part of our talented staff and are certain that our members will enjoy working with them." Mac Intosh will be responsible for member relations including sales and retention efforts, ribbon cutting ceremonies, coordination of monthly mixers and will staff the Chamber's Ambassadors and Value Added Benefits Committees. A native of the Bay Area, Mac Intosh first came to San Luis Obispo to attend Cal Poly, where she majored in Home Economics/Clothing & Textiles. Upon graduation, she returned to the Bay Area and spent several years working in sales for upscale retailers Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman-Marcus. Most recently, Mac Intosh worked in the personnel placement field doing sales and recruiting for a firm in the Bay Area and, after moving back to the Central Coast, for San Luis Personnel. "It's exciting to be at the heart of San Luis Obispo's active business community," commented Mac Intosh. "I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of our members and helping them to get the most out of their Chamber membership." Lentz will be responsible for advertising sales in all Chamber print publications as well as the Chamber's annual Mixer Showcase. Lentz, who was a graphic communications student at Cal Poly, has an extensive background in printing. Before joining the Chamber, she worked at Blake Printery/Poor Richard's Press. During her sixteen year tenure there Lentz was a valuable asset, working in the customer service, sales, marketing and accounting departments. She also coordinated trade shows and special events, including two Chamber membership mixers. An active Chamber member, Lentz is a graduate of Leadership San Luis Obispo Class VIII and served on the Ambassadors Committee prior to coming to work for the Chamber. "I've worked with the Chamber's sales team on various projects over the years (while at Blake's), so I know how much the organization prides itself on its high standards and quality products," remarked Lentz. "It's wonderful to now be on the other side of the table and to have the opportunity to carry on the Chamber's tradition of excellence." |
