Pam McLaughlin, M.A., Child Life Specialist with H.O.P.E. For Kids at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center recently passed certification exams. McLaughlin is now the only certified child life specialist working in the Central Coast region.

Gary R. Tanner, Vice President/Credit Administration for Coast National Bank, has completed the first year of curriculum at the 55th annual session of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

C. Gary Hyden, ASLA, AICP has joined RRM Design Group's staff of talented designers as the Director of Planning and Landscape Architecture for the Oakdale office.

Precision Communications, a communications and marketing firm specializing in the tourism and non-profit industries, has been chosen by the San Luis Obispo County Visitors and Conference Bureau to research and design a countywide tourism strategic plan.

A new student has taken the helm of the Associated Students of Cuesta College (ASCC). Twenty-year-old Jake Wall of San Luis Obispo was elected ASCC president in September, serving a term that ends in May.

JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery has appointed Geraldine Ritchie as Assistant Winemaker. Ritchie worked most recently for Beringer Wine Estates in St. Helena, California where she was an Enologist and Senior Sensory Ananlyst.

San Luis Ambulance Service recently donated 10 Laerdal ForeRunner semi-automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) to the County Sheriff's Department. This donation will help Sheriff's Deputies to respond to victims of sudden cardiac arrest with early defibrillation capabilities.

Visual Systems, Inc., the leading supplier of quality industrial automation software, recently hired Derek Oates and Peter Kurze as programmers.

Wynd Communications Corp. is this year's recipient of the California Governor's Award for Excellence in Universal Design and Technology. The company was recognized for its WyndTell service, a wireless telecommunications technology designed specifically for Americans who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The Cal Poly Wind Orchestra has received an invitation to participate in the 11th Annual International Music Festival scheduled for June 2000 in Sydney, Australia. The Orchestra will perform at the world-famous Sydney Opera House as well as the Sydney Town Hall.
