Nominations sought for top citizen

It's time again for Chamber members to select nominees for the organization's most celebrated award—Citizen of the Year. The award, honoring one outstanding citizen who unselfishly contributes to the community, is given out annually by the Chamber.

Last year, members nominated Wanda Strassburg for her devotion to the community and incredible volunteer spirit. Strassburg was recognized, in part, for service to local organizations such as Quota International of San Luis Obispo, Friends of the Library, KCBX Public Radio, First Congressional Church and the Prado Day Center.

Citizen of the Year is the most prestigious community service award given by the Chamber of Commerce. While only Chamber members may nominate Citizen of the Year candidates, nominees need not be Chamber members. Board members are not eligible. Nominations must be received by November 1. Members are encouraged to complete the nomination ballot enclosed in this edition of San Luis Obispo Business.

The Board selects the recipient through closed ballots. The winner's name will be kept secret until it's officially announced at the Chamber's 95th Annual Dinner on Saturday, January 15, 2000.
