KCET "Live from Farmers' Market KCET "live" at Farmers' Market "Broadcasting live from San Luis Obispo" is what some three million KCET viewers in Southern California will hear when the station does their on-location pledge break from Farmers' Market on August 19. San Luis Obispo has been chosen as the site for the Los Angeles-based public television station to do it's first-ever pledge drive "on-location". The San Luis Obispo broadcast is being highly publicized by KCET and is featured prominently throughout the station's monthly magazine which goes to some 315,000 KCET members. "We're really excited to be doing this remote broadcast from San Luis Obispo," commented Caroline Guttman, Director of Membership for KCET. "This never would have come about if it wasn't for the great relationship we have with the Chamber and the wonderful cooperation of the Chamber, KSBY and the San Luis Obispo Downtown Association." Chamber President/CEO Dave Garth will be on-air with KCET's Life & Times Tonight co-host Val Zavala from the station's booth at Farmers' Market during the live pledge breaks. The broadcast will air throughout Southern and Central California in seven counties, Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, San Bernadino, Kern, Ventura and Santa Barbara, all of which are key markets for potential visitors to San Luis Obispo. Viewers in San Luis Obispo County will also be able to tune in to the broadcast or visit the booth. "Dave Garth has been a member and great friend of KCET for many years," said KCET's Chief Operating Officer Don Youpa. "We've visited San Luis Obispo numerous times over the years and appreciate the warm welcome and strong support we always receive from our friends there. When we decided to take our pledge drive out of the studio and into the communities we serve, the SLO Farmers' Market was our first choice to launch this new initiative." |
